Temperatures are rising and after the spring rain Tuscany is blooming. Last week we took a road trip in the Chianti area and ended up somewhere near Castellina in Chianti where we had lunch in the hills at Osteria alla Piazza and discovered a little church. The wild iris, symbol of Florence, are in full bloom at the moment along the roads and under the olive trees. The grapes are also slowly beginning to take form in preparation of a new load of famous Chianti wine. The unexpected surprises on the road are always the best, like a fountain in the middle of nowhere and a cupboard on the road where the bakker hangs up the bread for his clients in the morning. And when you’re in Tuscany you have to hug a cypress of course!
